Eco Logical

Our name says it all.  Eco ICF is an ecologically sound building system - it's as good for the environment as it is for your bottom line.  The energy savings alone are significant, resulting in fewer natural resources consumed.  Eco ICF  buildings consistently reduce monthly utility costs over the life of the structure.  In turn, the heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system can be scaled back to reap even more savings.

Green materials and manufacturing from the initial manufacturing of our ICF product to the construction site to finished structure, Eco ICF Builders has designed its system and process to be kind to the environment.  No CFCs, HCFCs or other ozone depleting substances are used or released.  Manufacturing and construction waste is minimal.  Plus, Eco ICF block forms are 50 percent more efficient to ship and handle than other ICFs.

Company wide commitment Eco ICF Builders & Supplies is dedicated to reducing energy consumption, incorporating environmental awareness into all aspects of company operations.

The following programs and practices are currently in place:

  • A "Green Team" with representatives from all departments, is charged with fostering dialogue and identifying goals and action plans.

  • Eco ICF Builders educates customers, vendors and the industry community about the green building market and opportunities for participation.

  • The company continues to explore alternative materials for its product that offer more environmentally qualities while still meeting criteria for strength, consistency and insulation superiority.

Eco ICF buildings reduce the pressure on precious natural resources by replacing lumber used in frame construction with an environmentally clean product.  Manufacturing waste is negligible and construction waste is also minimal.  By weight, 40% of the Eco ICF's are made from recycled material.

Optimal interior environment building with Eco ICF eliminates air infiltration through the wall assembly into a structure, which allows for greater control of a building's interior air quality.  There are no drafts or cold spots, thus greatly reducing the amount of fuel needed for heating and cooling.  Additionally walls constructed with Eco ICF Insulated Concrete Forms dramatically reduce outside noise pollution.  The result is a quiet and peaceful living environment.

Mould and moisture resistant the Eco ICF Insulated concrete walls provide a building envelop that is both airtight and resistant to water infiltration.  The inorganic nature of the Eco ICFs mean they do not support mould growth ensuring a superior indoor air quality free from unwanted allergens, pollutants and mould.

The Eco ICF Block is composed of three components

The Eco ICF Building system consists of two types of plastic - Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) and high density plastic.  Each block has two side panels, each measuring 1219mm long x 406mm high x 64mm thick.  These side panels are made of flame retardant EPS.  Every 203mm on the horizontal axis of the side panel there is a high density plastic web that has been moulded into the EPS side panel.  These webs provide a surface on both the exterior and interior to attach finishing materials.

The connector element spans the cavity between the two side panels and connects the two side panels together to make the blocks.  The connector elements and the EPS side panels are easily and quickly assembled on site.  The cavity made by the connector element can be varying sizes from 101.6mm to 254mm or more depending on the length of the connector element.  It is in this cavity that concrete is placed to make the concrete walls of the building.  After the concrete cures, the Eco ICF Block side panels remain in place and provide the insulation for the building.

Stack and Pour for Fast Walls

Eco ICF building system easy to use process eliminates several steps that are necessary with wood frame construction such as sheathing and insulating the exterior walls.  ICFs, made of expanded polystyrene (EPS), stack and lock into place much like LEGOs.  Extreme heat, frigid cold, rain or sunshine it doesn't matter as EPS insulates concrete allowing it to wet cure as it strengthens.

After the concrete cures, the plumbing and electrical installation can begin.  The foam is easy to cut and remove so electrical lines can be installed.  Also any exterior or interior finish can be applied from panel and lap siding to brick, stone or stucco etc.

Eco ICF building system features a bracing system with unique alignment features to ensure a smooth wall finish.  Only basic hand tools are needed to position and secure our lightweight blocks.  High density webs, integral to Eco ICF building system, provide furring strips for a standard wall finishing product.

High density plastic webs are recessed providing a uniform exterior to which any stucco or EIFS material can be applied and having such a uniform surface provides superior adhesion and crack resistance.

Radius walls and angled walls can also be constructed with ease through simple mitering techniques.

Eco ICF building system leads the ICF industry in research and development.  It is this dedication to continuous improvement that allows our customers to rest easy.  We stand behind our products.
